Rancho de Pataguilla
It was a great day today (4/5/25) in Wilson County. We unveiled and dedicated the newest historical marker—Rancho de Pataguilla.

The marker, sponsored by Maurine Liles, independent researcher and local historian, recognizes and celebrates the early history of Mission San Juan's ranch that once covered more than 66,000 acres.

Maurine, David Nickels, and the late Gene Maeckel collaborated, researched, and published a 51-page report on Rancho de Pataguilla which was included with the historical marker application. They have made their research report available for download at the Wilson County Historical Commission's website: https://www.wilsoncountytx.gov/page/wilson.CHC

Congratulations Maurine and the Wilson County Historical Commission.
